FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Paint Protection Film (PPF)?
Show Answer Hide Answer

Paint Protection Film is a clear, self-healing polyurethane film applied to your vehicle's painted surfaces. It acts as a barrier against stone chips, road debris, scratches, and environmental contaminants, keeping your factory paint looking flawless underneath.

What's the difference between Melon Core, Melon Pro, and Melon Prime?
Show Answer Hide Answer

Melon Core (GL-15) is our everyday-protection film for daily-driven vehicles. Melon Pro (TPU-G2S) steps up thickness, gloss, and self-healing speed with a 7-year warranty. Melon Prime (TPU-V8) is our top-tier film with the highest gloss, best hydrophobicity, instant self-healing, and a 10-year warranty.

Will PPF affect my car's factory paint or warranty?
Show Answer Hide Answer

No. PPF is applied on top of your factory paint as a removable protective layer - it does not alter or void your vehicle manufacturer's paint warranty. In fact, it helps preserve the factory finish underneath.

Does PPF yellow or discolor over time?
Show Answer Hide Answer

Melon PPF is engineered for non-yellowing performance. Our films are tested to withstand 3,000+ hours of accelerated UV ageing (QUV testing) with minimal colour shift, so your film stays clear for years.

What is self-healing technology?
Show Answer Hide Answer

Self-healing PPF has a top-coat layer that can absorb light swirl marks and scratches - when exposed to heat (such as warm water or sunlight), the film's surface flows back to its smooth, original state. Melon Prime V8 heals almost instantly; Melon Pro G2S heals within a few seconds.

How long does PPF installation take?
Show Answer Hide Answer

Installation time depends on coverage - a full-front kit (bonnet, fenders, mirrors, headlights) typically takes half a day, while a full-body wrap can take 2-3 days for a precise, bubble-free finish. Your installer can confirm exact timing for your vehicle.

How do I care for my car after PPF installation?
Show Answer Hide Answer

Avoid washing your vehicle for at least 7 days after installation to allow the adhesive to fully cure. After that, regular hand washing or touchless car washes are safe. Avoid abrasive brushes and harsh chemical solvents on the film.

What does the warranty cover?
Show Answer Hide Answer

Our warranty covers manufacturing defects such as cracking, peeling, and yellowing under normal use conditions. Melon Pro (G2S) carries a 7-year warranty and Melon Prime (V8) carries a 10-year warranty. Full terms and conditions apply - see our Terms & Conditions page for details.

How do I register my warranty?
Show Answer Hide Answer

You can register your Melon PPF warranty online through our E-Warranty page. You'll need your invoice details, vehicle information, and the roll number provided by your installer.

Can I get PPF for just my headlights or mirrors instead of the full car?
Show Answer Hide Answer

Yes. Melon PPF is available for partial coverage - common choices include headlights, mirrors, door edges, and a full-front kit - as well as full-body coverage for maximum protection.
